Hever Castle Moat Kent - Travel England

Just 30 miles SE of London in the county of Kent sits Hever Castle - the childhood home of Anne Boleyn. Anne was the second wife of Henry VIII and for a 1,000 days was queen of England before she and her brother lost their heads. Henry VIII later awarded ownership of Hever to his fourth wife, Anne of Cleves, upon the annulment of their marriage. Anne of Cleves undoubtedly considered herself fortunate not to share the fate of the first Anne who lived at Hever.

Hever Castle, protected by a moat, sits on 125 acres of beautiful gardens. Construction began in 1270 but only the gatehouse remains of the original buildings. Hever Castle is open for visitors to experience this historic place that played a part in Tudor history.
